For smoking, birch wood is often used. The smoked processed cheese comes in a sausage form and is processed into round pre-packed slices. It has a brown rind.

Cheese caves are real! Storing cheese in caves help them to age better and eventually taste better. Caves can either be natural or manmade. Before the invention of refrigerators, cheese was stored in caves which had the perfect temperature to age the cheese. Feel like going to a cheese cave now?
